"English French German Suite" and "Minds and Thoughts"

(As far as the Suite, i don't have enough knowledge of either French or German to really fully appreciate it - despite the fact that I studied French at school. Apparently you need to be fluent...)

Is the analogy programmer <-> mind (p. 382) really relevant? After all, the theory outlined in the chapter suggests that we are our neurons and chunks. But the programmer is outside the studied system. (The programmer could perhaps be relevant as an illustration of the "soulist explanation", mentioned at p.385, but I don't feel that this was intended by the author).

When will the World Wide Web become conscious? :-)
